It looks like Vail Realty is going global! Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, the United States-based real estate brokerage franchise network whose namesake is Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc., has announced plans to expand internationally starting in 2017. As part of its first phase of expansion, the network launched a powerful, new property-search platform on its popular www.BerkshireHathawayHS.com website; and a listing-syndication program now broadcasting Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices network listings to 70 real estate websites worldwide.

In addition, consumers may search for homes in any U.S. city or state serviced by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices franchisees. What they find they can't get on any other single site: full Multiple Listing Service data containing all listings in their search area. By registering on www.BerkshireHathawayHS.com, consumers also gain proprietary "Inside Access" features including the latest pending and sold information, market reports and property-price history.

On the local front Asbury Park continues with it's positive press as more and more people continue to flood into the city this summer. The New York Times Travel section featured a glowing article on Asbury Park last month titled "New Beach Destination on the Jersey Shore? Asbury Park". It was a great piece that highlighted the new Asbury Hotel, iStar & Madison Marquette, and a number of local business owners. As often happens with a widely read article like this, many new real estate inquiries immediately started following the article, and new people quickly begin exploring the town. To me the most interesting line in the write up was:

"It is my legacy and obligation to not ruin this town," Jay Sugarman, chief executive of iStar, told Ms. Andrei when he hired her to take over design of their efforts there. "We are not going to turn this (Asbury Park)into a Disneyland."

While Jay Sugarman has certainly proved this to us so far in almost everything iStar has completed or started in town, it's great to hear this is actually his thought process as the entire city continues to evolve under iStar's stewardship.
